Cavities are actually caused by a preventable bacterial infection, known in the dental profession as “caries”.  This infection is not only treatable, but preventable. Now, Dr. Foley's office is using  CariFree™ products to help patients treat and prevent the caries infection.

For Tweens and Teens, regular brushing is usually not at the top of their "to do" list, especially if they have braces!

Now, however, Dr. Foley's office carries a new sonic toothbrush that has been proven to improve their brushing habits. Phillips Electronics has just released the SoniCare™ sonic toothbrush that uses sound waves to gently clean teeth without damaging braces or brackets.  In early testing, Phillips found that the gentle sonic cleaning action promotes longer brushing because it causes less discomfort than regular abrasion-based brushing; removed significantly more plaque, and teens who tested the brush said it gave them a far more positive brushing experience.

The SoniCare brush is not yet available in stores; however, Dr. Foley has obtained a limited number from the manufacturer and is making them available to her patients on a first-come, first-served basis.
